MEDICAL

Ao Nang Medical Clinic is located in the main street in Ao Nang, about 10-minutes’ drive from Marigold. It's up about 5 steps next to a Thai restaurant that has a driveway beside it, a few doors down from Much & Mellow. Their care is exceptional, they can do blood tests and ECGs on-site, and they have private hospital rooms upstairs. They are my FIRST choice when unwell.

Krabi International Hospital offers packages for different needs. One guest got her Gyn/pap/hpv, mammogram plus ultrasound, and bloodwork including lipid panel done there for around US$250. The hpv was $100 of that! She left with all my results provided to her in a folder plus digital copies of her mammogram. It all took about 2 hours and they escort you to different areas of the hospital for different exams. Also gave her a 100 baht coupon to go get a coffee and snack while I waited for bloodwork results.

Another local hospital is Wattanapat, which is also excellent. Both hospitals are within 4 miles of the Marigold. I took a Grab ride for $6 each way.

Phuket Bangkok Hospital is where to head for more serious matters and specialists. It will take you approx. 3 hours to drive there. Again; excellent care, service and standards. Yes, it’s in Phuket.

Most medications can be purchased over the counter at the pharmacy.

There are many dental practices and optometrists in Ao Nang, Krabi Town, and even a dentist near the hotel in Ao Nam Mao.

Every single guests who has been to the above, has said that their care exceeded anything received in their home country. Do NOT hesitate!

Massages

Please note there have actually been deaths from excessive massages. We recommend limiting massages to on every 3 days. Please also not that not all Thai massages are give by certified practitioners. Never allow a massage therapist to adjust your neck or press the base of your skull. Be careful when they wish to crack your spine or manipulate shoulders. I have witnessed dislocated shoulders and torn ligaments as a result of massages that were too forceful.

When you find a good therapist, stick to them. they will come to know your injuries and ailments, as well as your body strength/ weaknesses. TELL THEM if they are too hard, and TIP THEM at least 100 TB when the treatment is finished. It’s a physically demanding job for them and they work very long hours.
