WELCOME
We’re so glad you’ve chosen to be part of the Marigold Lifestyle. The Marigold Concept Hotel in Krabi is more than just a place to stay; it's a space for healing, growth, and connection, located in a wellness retreat with extensive organic gardens.
Whether you're here to rest, recharge, or explore new possibilities in life, you’ll find support, understanding, and encouragement every step of the way. There are specialists on-staff and on-call who can provide a wide range of wellness experiences, and we encourage you to speak with Reception to arrange these in advance.
Marigold offers a flexible balance between community and solitude, allowing you to fully embrace the experience. When you feel rested and ready, introduce yourself to other ladies in the group, but also honor their need for personal space.
To help you make the most of your time here, we’ve put together a few tips to guide you during your stay:
● A Warm Welcome: New Marigolds arrive on either the first or the fifteenth of each month and we encourage everyone to warmly welcome them into the Marigold community. Help them settle in, share what you’ve learned, and guide them through the ins and outs of life at Marigold. The knowledge you pass on can make all the difference as they start their journey here.
● Engage with the Group: When the time feels right, participate in group activities and conversations. Community engagement is a wonderful way to feel connected, but remember, personal space is equally respected here.
● Realistic Expectations: Remember that life in Thailand is different, with a slower pace. Have realistic expectations and be prepared to adapt to the local way of life. Be mindful and respectful of cultural differences and language barriers. Embrace the uniqueness of the experience and the healing that comes with your stay at Marigold.
● Use Available Resources: Previous Marigold members have shared a lot of great info in the Facebook Marigold Krabi group. Before asking, try searching the group for tips on activities, climate, and culture etc. A quick Google search of the area can also help with local details and preparedness. This will give you a head start and help you settle in smoothly!
● Group Outings: Take turns organizing group activities. Don’t leave the planning to just one person. If you're not comfortable organizing, give it a try and ask a fellow member for help.
● Pushing Boundaries: Marigold Krabi is a space to grow and step outside your comfort zone. Whether it’s trying new activities or leading a group outing, take small steps toward new experiences. You’re not alone—many are on similar journeys, and your sisters are here to support you. Growth can be uncomfortable, but it’s an important part of healing. Be kind to yourself as you face challenges, and trust that your sisters have your back.
● Respect Differences: Everyone at Marigold Krabi is on their own unique journey, with different experiences and healing processes. Be mindful that people connect in different ways and at their own pace. Embrace the diversity within the group and offer support without judgment. Understand that each individual is here for their own reasons, and while connections may happen naturally, everyone’s path and pace are different.
● Respecting Personal Space: Many members of Marigold are introverts who need time alone to recharge. It's important to understand that some people may feel more comfortable in smaller, quieter groups or may choose to spend time by themselves. This isn't a reflection of their feelings toward others; it's simply how they take care of their mental and emotional well-being. Be respectful of everyone’s need for space and understand that not everyone thrives in large group settings. Creating an environment where people feel safe to take time for themselves when needed is a key part of our supportive community.
● Group Dynamics: It’s important to understand that not everyone will be invited to every small group activity, and that's perfectly normal. Members at Marigold often naturally form smaller groups based on shared interests, energy levels, or availability. These circles can shift and change over time, and it's not a reflection of your value or connection within the larger group. Please don’t take it personally if you’re not included in every outing or gathering. Everyone is on their own journey and may need different types of support or company at different times. The beauty of Marigold lies in its flexibility—there are always opportunities to connect with others in your own time and way.
Meet Pim (General Manager) & Khun At (Owner)
The beautiful young woman in this photo is Pim. She is the General Manager of the hotel, and two other large resorts on Kph Phi Phi.
Pim speaks excellent English and is highly respected for her commitment to developing sustainable tourism in Thailand. She has founded and manages a number of incredible music events, and is a key partner in a local Blue Carbon initiative that involves the restoration of sea grass and mangroves. Pim is also an instructor in breathwork and free diving. She runs Breathwork workshops, and practices sound bowl healing.
Pim's mother is Khun At (Koon Ad). She is married to a Thai man called Charlie and like Pim - they spread their time between Krabi, Koh Phi Phi and Bangkok.
They own all 3 resorts and have a fascinating history that - if you ask politely - Pim may share with you. They are the most gentile, kind, and warm-hearted Buddhist family you’re ever likely to meet. Please greet them and treat them with due respect.
Meet Malee (Resort Manager/ Reception)
Malee (Mah-lee) is the hotel manager. She sits in reception and always has a smile. Her English is slowly improving, and she has a heart of gold.
Malee has worked here since she was 19. Her sister Fern sometimes works in the office too.
Malee is the person who arranges invoices, takes payment, and can book tours and tuk tuks for you, as well as arranging cooking classes and workshops, etc.
If you need help with something, please speak with Malee. Use Google Translate if it’s complicated.
Please note that in typical Thai fashion, Malee may need to be reminded several times of any requests you make of her. It’s not personal. It's just how things operate in Thailand and she juggles the responsibilities of about 5 people.
Again, a polite greeting and treating Malee with courtesy and respect will be appreciated.
Meet Chok (Driver, snake & bug-catcher, Mr Fix-everything, and absolute sweetie)
This is Chok (Cho), the man who does most of the airport pick ups. He also does every odd job imaginable around the hotel, and is the go-to man when something breaks, slithers, crawls, or can’t be figured out independently.
He's an absolute sweetie and works like mad from about 5am till about 9pm. His English is limited, so please speak slowly and simply. No slang, be patient and kind. Frustration and anger are not acceptable emotions in Thailand and are regarded as the behaviors of a toddler.
Chok is bashful and extremely kind. He is married to the head house-keeper, who you will also see working pretty much every day, all hours. (She’s the lady in the photo at the top of this page).
