My Expat Story - I Moved to Mexico
Mora was a teen mum. She put herself through college so that she could provide for her son, and she qualified as a nurse. Her son is now in his early 30s and doing well. As for Mora, her husband passed., then, after decades of serving as a nurse, she was suddenly laid off! This is Mora’s story…
Being a teen mum, solo parent, then suffering the passing of a loved one, Mora found herself engulfed in immense emotional pain and financial strain. Housing insecurity soon followed; as is often the case. There seemed no light at the end of an increasingly dark tunnel.
When Mora found our Facebook group, Empty Nester Women Looking to Relocate and she wrote a post; a desperate plea for help. Overnight, hundreds of messages flooded in, offering support and encouragement. Those messages spurred her to take action and literally saved her life.
Today, Mora and her two best furry friends are traveling in Mexico, enjoying the sights and looking for a small, affordable place to call home. All she wishes for is peace and stability; two things we take for granted, and which are so essential for our wellbeing.
Thank you Mora for sharing your story. We celebrate your courage and are glad that our amazing Tribe in the Empty Nester’s Facebook group helped you in some small way.
